So far it has been an eventful month. Starting out with the BSF Annual Bonsai Convention. We had a great time there and saw some very interesting demos and some nice trees coming out of all the workshops. Robert Steven has a little different perspective on styling that I found quite interesting. For those that couldn't make it, start planning now for next years, for those that did, see you next year.
After the convention, where Mary Miller was bestowed with The BSF 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award, she paid us a visit at our nursery. After a nice lunch we were able to spend a couple hours at the nursery, can't think of a better way to spend a day, being able to talk and listen to such a knowlegeable and wonderful lady.
Jim VanLandingham and Tanner, his Grandson, made their annual trip to the nursery, always a welcome treat. Jim spent a couple days with us and a whole day with our study group critiquing all of their trees. He has such a great manner on working with the people and the trees. Look forward to next years visit.
Lindsay Shiba paid us a visit on his way to a workshop for the Marion Club. We enjoyed a lunch at The Blackwater Inn, then came to the nursery were he looked over our collection, chatted with Linda, and gave us some good tips. Lindsay, having a nursery in California, we got to trade some trade secrets you might say. It is always good to get other opinions that are bonsai masters, the more I can learn, the more I can teach those who come to the workshops.
